Patrol 52 - 1st kenGray rovers

Date: 16 December 2008

Team: Paul Diessel, Ewen Mcalpine, Sean Borralho, Carlos De Spinola, Melanie Diessel, Robert Faltermeier, Sean Morrow and Alexander Pope

On the morning of the 16th December, at 09h00, this pack of “old” lions came storming in as if from a walk in the park. The team relaxed for about an hour and a half before starting to build their electronic compasses whilst taking in the ‘fresh’ smell of the sewer being drained :)

This team was truly entertaining during their compass time trial which was completed in 6 minutes and 59 seconds. “Robert, the stone was not the object of the game, the card below was”  Loads of fun!!!

Before departing for Sneeuberg at 15h10 on the same day, Timothy and Chris gave them some tips on the route that they would be traveling from Algeria (see team 44). These guys are experts at getting from Sneeuberg to Algeria.

“Doc’s” knee was bandaged up, yet he was determined to go on, even with the help of an overlander!

The pictures below will surely bring to life some of our senses in addition to reminding us of some fun-filled experiences…

Arrived at Algeria and collecting a fresh supply of rations from the food master, Dipesh ...

Sorting out the rations after receiving their 5 litres of energade...’propvol, met uys ja!’ …

Focusing on Andrew’s introduction to making the electronic compass while the sewrage truck positions itself...

The next pictures represent the activities of the drill station which was run by drill master Dipesh. Preparation of the lids require drilling for the LEDs, Switch and Compass Sensor as well as application and marking of the labels.

Assembling and soldering the components like pros…

The compass time trial was run by Sahil under the watchful eyes of Dipesh.  Let the time trial begin!!!

After receiving their prizes, the team posed for a picture for the base sponsor, ARCUS GIBB. Our base leader Andre van der Walt is also the representative for the sponsor.
