Patrol 46 arrived at Algeria from Sneeuberg, on the 14th December at 15h30. The team was split in two on their way from Sneeuberg to Algeria. The adult leader was injured (maybe a bit “kleinserig ..” who will ever know). Kelly and Vaughan hiked with him to HQ. The two may have hiked ahead and waited for him before they walked with him into HQ. The balance of the team arrived at Algeria with Jamie running the last couple of 100 meters. Video footage revealed that Kelly pulled Jamie’s hair during the opening ceremony. After lunch, the team started building their compasses while the adult leaders sorted out the rations and made use of our garden shower. Their compass time trial was completed in 12 minutes and 34 seconds. This team after completing the electronic activities relaxed with music and laughter until late light.—A fun filled delightful team Jamie and Kelly had to unfortunately make their way to HQ while the rest of the team continued their hike to Crystal Pool at 06h30 on the morning of the 15th December 2008. Here are some pictures of the team that made our base at Algeria feel like a home :)
Hier kom die manne… In the middle, we have gentleman Sean assisting Jamie with her bag. Sean joined us from the HQ sick tent. Vaughan and Kelly arrived a little later, after leaving their adult leader Marcelino at the sick tent.
Patrol 46 focusing on Andrew’s introduction to making the electronic compass. The next pictures represent the activities of the drill station which was run by drill master Dipesh. Preparation of the lids require drilling for the LEDs, Switch and Compass Sensor as well as application and marking of the labels.
Assembling and soldering the components like pros...
This jolly patrol enjoyed lunch and played games before proceeding with their compass time trial.
Compass time trial ...let the challenge begin...
After receiving their prizes, the team posed for a picture for the sponsors, represented by Andre van der Walt of GIBB who is also our base leader.
This fun-filled team displayed a great sense of camaraderie whilst dancing the night away and creating a poster expressing their experience at the electronics base...
Bon Voyage team 46!!! Keep up the fun fun fun spirit :).
