Patrol 43 - 22nd Pretoria sea scouts, 5th Windhoek, 4th Pietermaritzburg

Patrol 43 arrived at Algeria at 16h45 on the 18th December 2008. Their story is relayed in the images and captions below.

This team completed their compass time trial in 6 minutes and 24 seconds. This team left our base for Welbedacht at 06h40 on the 19th December 2008.

 

Arrived after a swim at the local pool, looking rather fresh and in good spirits.   The team consisted of some Shark supporters which was enough motivation to get the “Drill master” to hand draw an A1 size picture of “Sharky”.

  

  

The team launched straight into the activity after quenching their thirst with their welcome drink - 5 litres of ice-cold Energade ...

       

The next pictures represent the activities of the drill station which was run by drill master Dipesh. Preparation of the lids require drilling for the LEDs, Switch and Compass Sensor as well as application and marking of the labels.

After receiving their prizes, the team posed for a picture for the sponsors of the base, represented by Andre van der Walt of ARCUS GIBB who is also our base leader.  The team cleaned up well by using the open showers.

    

Whilst the team brainstormed ideas about what to include on their team poster, the vivacious motivation behind this team was unveiled.  This consisted of an issue of FHM with Minky on the cover.  Rumour has it that this magazine was smuggled onto the adventure in the ski shorts of one of the scouts (named with held purposely but lets refer to him as Ed) for some evening fun...mmm...boys and their toys.  The creative energy in the poster flowed into body painting and group showers.

  

The team were able to negotiate with Braai master Frank to give them a lift up to Uitkyk Pass. Apparently the team sourced fire wood for the base staffs braai in return.  Leaving on the back of a white angel...
